Gladys Horton, 94, Lead Singer of the Marvelettes, Is Dead

Meet Gladys Horton who was the lead singer of the Marvelettes. The group that gave Motown Records their first No. 1 hit, ‘Please Mr. Postman.

This is phase five for Gladys. In order for her to stand out, she is be the only one in her group that is in color, the other three are mostly gray scale with minor gold tones. l interpreted this photo as having been taken on a stage. I added audience seats in a semicircle shape beneath their feet, and added some flare to the stage curtains because that is how I would interpret a proper concert hall in the 1960’s.

I took Nicole’s advice and started using the metallic thread. It does reflect light very nicely, but it’s definitely a different kind of light and I’m not sure that it will work for all of them.. but will also try it on another obituary (Hideko Takamine). I still plan on having 5 new pieces. I have 2 out of 5 complete, the other three are started and mostly finished 🙂
