Reading the obituaries can be intensely emotional, mostly depressing and generally avoided. Using the New York Times I will draw attention to the lives and memories of those passed by setting their portrait forever in thread. Thread drawings are non traditional embroideries that are woven through paper. In this case, “the obituaries,” draws attention to the recently deceased who are often celebrated by their friends and family and are remembered as the best version of themselves. Ultimately, introducing the new shoes left to fill.
