_gaia's mission remains as a collective of women, for women, for the making of textiles, clothing, printmaking, painting, architecture, music, film, photography, science, the performing arts, writing, environmental, social and political activism: all things which color the lives of the women involved.
_gaia is active in the visual arts space. We run and sponsor shows, events, and residencies for our sisters to come and work on their art. We are always brewing up something new and looking for new ideas. Contact us if you are interested in participating or have an idea you would like to explore with _gaia.

Activism was the fire that gave birth to _gaia. We continue in that tradition by supporting and promoting socially conscious movement and agendas that are important to our members. We are active in demonstrations and events that help bring issues of importance to light. _gaia's main issues include but are not limited too: stop violence against women, human rights, reproductive rights and promotion.
_gaia loves to meet new people and make new friends. We have many opportunities for you to join _gaia in our mission to provide a space for women in the arts. Come play with us through our internships and volunteer programs. You will learn, work and have fun while opening up a whole new world. from pulaski skyway/ nj turnpike: towards holland tunnel (as you approach the tunnel entrance) make left at the first light (–jersey ave) continue into hoboken (under the train tracks) the road bears right..this is observer highway..continue past the exxon on the left…pass the light at willow and make next left at park ave then first left onto newark..pass willow…parking for the Neumann leather building is on the left..park… proceed to the entrance in the back behind the loading dock. Go into the building….pass security desk on your right…go through double doors back outside…make right go inside enter the stairwell….go up to third floor make left…follow signs to _gaia studio.
on foot
take the Hoboken Path train on 6th avenue at 33rd, 23rd, 14th or 9th streets to Hoboken in Hoboken walk to Newark Street make a left. Proceed down Newark Street to Willow Avenue. Turn left walk to entrance at 66 willow street. enter walk into the courtyard walk up the red firestairs to the 3rd floor. alternative entrance: if door at 66 willow is locked….get back onto newark street and walk down the block to 321 newark street. you will see a large parking lot just past the building entrance. enter this parking lot. proceed to the entrance on your left behind the loading dock (past the dumpsters.) Go into the building….pass security desk on your right…go through double doors back outside…make right. go inside. enter the stairwell….go up to third floor make left…follow signs (hallway) to _gaia studio.
